How to dictate in Notion on a Mac
Notion has meeting transcription and voice prompts for its AI, but no voice typing into pages. Here is how to dictate into a Notion page on a Mac, and how to search your workspace by voice.
Notion has two voice features, and neither types into a page:
- AI Meeting Notes transcribes a meeting and writes a summary. Type /meet on a page in the Mac app and click Start transcribing. It's for Business and Enterprise plans (Free and Plus get a limited trial), needs the Mac app on macOS 13 or later, and doesn't work offline.
- Voice input for Notion AI, added to the desktop app in April 2026, is for speaking a prompt to Notion's AI, not for writing your page.
To dictate the words of a page, use one of these.
Say it. Speechy writes it.
Hold Fn, speak, and clean text lands in any app on your Mac.
1. Apple Dictation
Apple Dictation is built into macOS and types into a Notion page like any other text field.
- Turn it on in System Settings›Keyboard›Dictation.
- Click into the page and press the Microphone key or your Dictation shortcut.
- Press Escape, or the shortcut again, to stop.
It stops on its own after 30 seconds without speech.
2. Speechy
Speechy is a dictation app for Mac: click into the page, hold Fn, speak, and let go. Your voice is transcribed on your Mac, so it works offline, and lists come out as lists:
Connect Notion in Speechy and you can also ask about your workspace from any app: press ⌥⇧Space and say "Pull the Q3 numbers from the board review doc". New pages show in the notch first. See Speechy for Notion.
