Frees memory when idle
Speechy's voice and writing models run on your Mac and use memory. After a quiet spell, 15 minutes by default, Speechy unloads them, and the next time you dictate they load again while you speak.
How to use Frees memory when idle
Use Speechy as usual
Models stay loaded while you're dictating.
Step away
After the idle time, the models are unloaded.
Talk again
They reload while you speak; nothing you say is lost.
What you do, what you get
Models
You do
“Set Free memory when idle to After 5 minutes.”
You get
Memory comes back to your other apps sooner after you stop dictating.
Models
You do
“Set it to Never.”
You get
Models stay loaded, so the first words after a break show up without the short reload.
Pick when it lets go.
In Speechy, Models, under Memory at the bottom of the page.

The default is 5 minutes instead of 15. On any Mac, Speechy also unloads early if macOS runs low on memory and you aren't using it.
